I remember one day my son’s preschool teacher went around asking the kids who their best friend on the playground was, and he promptly said his brother’s name. How happy do you think this mama was? Now, don’t be deceived to think they didn’t have their differences and tussled often, but the love between them has always showed from helping each other with chores and homework to sharing rooms, clothes, and friends.
“Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor.” (Ro.12:10ESV)
When we believe in Jesus Christ as our savior, we are born into the family of God. We not only come into relationship with God as our loving Father, but we also become brothers and sisters of every other born-again believer in the world. It’s amazing how I have been made to feel at home with people I barely met while in the Philippines, Australia, Malaysia, or Texas, but then, we are family.
If having a large family in the natural is a blessing, and it is, how much more in the spiritual. We should have each other’s back, whether it needs scratching or covering. We should share when a brother is in need like we would when under one roof. We should be kind and caring, even when we must confront with truth. And instead of judging and disqualifying a brother or sister, we should do all we can to strengthen, encourage them, and help them grow. So love yout brothers and sisters, not from the teeth out, but in deed and in truth just as we would have them do with us.

Pray blessing your brothers and sisters everywhere, and especially those close and you know their need.
Día 21: ¿Puedes cantar, Somos familia?
Recuerdo que un día la maestra de preescolar de mi hijo fue por ahí preguntando a los niños quién era su mejor amigo en el patio de recreo, y rápidamente dijo el nombre de su hermano. ¿Qué tan feliz crees que me hizo sentir? Ahora, no se deje engañar pensando que no tuvieron sus diferencias y peleas a menudo, pero el amor entre ellos siempre se ha demostrado desde ayudarse mutuamente con los quehaceres y tareas hasta compartir habitaciones, ropa y amigos.
“Sean afectuosos unos con otros con amor fraternal; con honra, dándose preferencia unos a otros.” (Ro.12:10 NBLA)
Cuando creemos en Jesucristo como nuestro salvador, nacemos en la familia de Dios. No solo entramos en relación con Dios como nuestro Padre amoroso, sino que también nos convertimos en hermanos y hermanas de todos los demás creyentes nacidos de nuevo en el mundo. Es increíble cómo me han hecho sentir como en casa con personas que apenas conocí mientras estaba en Filipinas, Australia, Malasia o Texas, pero bien- somos familia.
Si tener una familia numerosa en lo natural es una bendición, y lo es, cuánto más en lo espiritual. Debemos cuidar la espalda del otro, ya sea que necesite rascarse o cubrirse. Debemos compartir cuando un hermano está en necesidad como lo haríamos cuando estamos bajo un mismo techo. Debemos ser amables y cariñosos, incluso cuando debemos confrontar con la verdad. Y en lugar de juzgar y descalificar a un hermano o hermana, debemos hacer todo lo posible para fortalecerlo, alentarlo y ayudarlo a crecer. Así que ama a tus hermanos y hermanas, no de los dientes para afuera, sino de hecho y de verdad. tal como quisiéramos que lo hicieran con nosotros.
