When God prepared His people to enter the land He promised them, a land of blessing and abundance for them and their descendants, His order was clear.
“…drive out all the inhabitants of the land from before you and destroy all their figured stones and destroy all their metal images and demolish all their high places. And you shall take possession of the land and settle in it, for I have given the land to you to possess it.” (Nm. 33:51-53)
Unfortunately, the people and later kings did not destroy all the high places in the land, some worshiping God AND idols, and some departing totally from God. And time after time, God let them be overcome and enslaved because everyone was doing whatever was right in his own eyes.
This is a shadow or figure of God’s plan for the life of every Christian to live possessing all His promises. But to do so, we must tear down the high places in our lives. High places refer to the places on high hills or mountains where people tried to get closer to a deity and set up altars to worship, usually gods other than the true God. This is idolatry and clearly not depending wholeheartedly on God.
Most of us wouldn’t think of having such a physical altar in our home, but we have high places in our heart and mind that we need to tear down, “casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God”. What arguments and reasonings have you permitted in your life? While saying you love God, there are areas you hold onto when you know they are not His will. You are saying you need to look out for yourself or make your own decisions, which is exalting yourself above God.
High places in our life are doors we have opened to the enemy and given him access and now we suffer the consequences without understanding why. He readily steals from us, but the worst part is that we give him our joy, peace, and victory. It’s time to tear down victimization (poor me), rebellion and pride (my way), unforgiveness (they don’t deserve to be forgiven), materialism (I’ll be happy with more), the past (If good, I want to go back and if bad, I can’t move on), and everything else that needs to be submitted in obedience to Christ. Don’t be like King Uzziah and others who did what was right in the eyes of the Lord BUT didn’t tear down the high places. It doesn’t work.

Pray repenting for every idol and submit every single area of your life in obedience to God and His word.
Día 13: ¿Hay lugares altos en tu corazón?
Cuando Dios preparó a su pueblo para entrar en la tierra que les prometió, una tierra de bendición y abundancia para ellos y sus descendientes su orden fue clara.
“expulsarán a todos los habitantes de la tierra delante de ustedes, y destruirán todas sus piedras grabadas, y destruirán todas sus imágenes fundidas, y demolerán todos sus lugares altos; y tomarán posesión de la tierra y habitarán en ella, porque les he dado la tierra para que la posean”. (Nm.33:51-53)
Desafortunadamente, el pueblo y los reyes posteriores no destruyeron todos los lugares altos de la tierra, algunos adoraron a Dios Y a los ídolos, y otros se apartaron totalmente de Dios. Dios dejó que fueran vencidos y esclavizados porque cada uno estaba haciendo lo que fuera correcto a sus propios ojos.
Esta es una sombra o figura del plan de Dios para que la vida de cada cristiano viva poseyendo todas Sus promesas. Pero para hacerlo, debemos derribar los lugares altos de nuestras vidas. Los lugares altos se refieren a los lugares en altas colinas o montañas donde las personas trataron de acercarse a una deidad y establecieron altares para adorar, generalmente dioses que no son el Dios verdadero. Esto es idolatría y claramente no es depender de todo corazón de Dios.
La mayoría de nosotros no pensaríamos en tener un altar físico en nuestro hogar, pero tenemos lugares altos en nuestro corazón y mente que necesitamos derribar. “Destruimos los argumentos y toda altivez que se levanta contra el conocimiento de Dios“. ¿Qué argumentos y razonamientos has permitido en tu vida? Mientras dices que amas a Dios, hay áreas a las que te aferras cuando sabes que no son Su voluntad. Estás diciendo que necesitas cuidarte tú mismo y tomar tus propias decisiones, lo que es exaltarte por encima de Dios.
Los lugares altos de nuestra vida son puertas que hemos abierto al enemigo y le hemos dado acceso y ahora sufrimos las consecuencias sin entender por qué. Él nos roba con gusto, pero la peor parte es que nosotros mismos le damos nuestra alegría, paz y victoria. Es hora de derribar la victimización (pobre de mí), la rebelión y el orgullo (a mi manera), la falta de perdón (no merecen ser perdonados), la aceptación (imagen y aprobación), el materialismo (seré feliz con más), el pasado (si es bueno, quiero volver y si es malo, no puedo seguir adelante), y todo lo demás que necesita ser sometido en obediencia a Cristo. No seas como el rey Uzías y otros que hicieron lo correcto a los ojos del Señor, PERO no derribaron los lugares altos. No funciona.
