I remember one day my son’s preschool teacher went around asking the kids who their best friend on the playground was, and he promptly said his brother’s name. How happy do you think this mama was? Now, don’t be deceived to think they didn’t have their differences and tussled often, but the love between them has always showed from helping each other with chores and homework to sharing rooms, clothes, and friends.

“Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor.” (Ro.12:10ESV)

When we believe in Jesus Christ as our savior, we are born into the family of God. We not only come into relationship with God as our loving Father, but we also become brothers and sisters of every other born-again believer in the world. It’s amazing how I have been made to feel at home with people I barely met while in the Philippines, Australia, Malaysia, or Texas, but then, we are family.

If having a large family in the natural is a blessing, and it is, how much more in the spiritual. We should have each other’s back, whether it needs scratching or covering. We should share when a brother is in need like we would when under one roof. We should be kind and caring, even when we must confront with truth. And instead of judging and disqualifying a brother or sister, we should do all we can to strengthen, encourage them, and help them grow. So love yout brothers and sisters, not from the teeth out, but in deed and in truth just as we would have them do with us.

Pray blessing your brothers and sisters everywhere, and especially those close and you know their need.

Día 21: ¿Puedes cantar, Somos familia?

Recuerdo que un día la maestra de preescolar de mi hijo fue por ahí preguntando a los niños quién era su mejor amigo en el patio de recreo, y rápidamente dijo el nombre de su hermano. ¿Qué tan feliz crees que me hizo sentir? Ahora, no se deje engañar pensando que no tuvieron sus diferencias y peleas a menudo, pero el amor entre ellos siempre se ha demostrado desde ayudarse mutuamente con los quehaceres  y tareas hasta compartir habitaciones, ropa y amigos.

“Sean afectuosos unos con otros con amor fraternal; con honra, dándose preferencia unos a otros.” (Ro.12:10 NBLA)

Cuando creemos en Jesucristo como nuestro salvador, nacemos en la familia de Dios. No solo entramos en relación con Dios como nuestro Padre amoroso, sino que también nos convertimos en hermanos y hermanas de todos los demás creyentes nacidos de nuevo en el mundo. Es increíble cómo me han hecho sentir como en casa con personas que apenas conocí mientras estaba en Filipinas, Australia, Malasia o Texas, pero bien- somos familia.

Si tener una familia numerosa en lo natural es una bendición, y lo es, cuánto más en lo espiritual. Debemos cuidar la espalda del otro, ya sea que necesite rascarse o cubrirse. Debemos compartir cuando un hermano está en necesidad como lo haríamos cuando estamos bajo un mismo techo. Debemos ser amables y cariñosos, incluso cuando debemos confrontar con la verdad. Y en lugar de juzgar y descalificar a un hermano o hermana, debemos hacer todo lo posible para fortalecerlo, alentarlo y ayudarlo a crecer. Así que ama a tus hermanos y hermanas, no de los dientes para afuera, sino de hecho y de verdad. tal como quisiéramos que lo hicieran con nosotros.

Ora bendiciendo a tus hermanos en todo lugar, y más el cercano que conoces su necesidad.

God didn’t make cookie cutter people, but rather a great variety to blend, contrast and complement one another as we do life together. One of the greatest challenges of parenting is to recognize and help develop the unique gifts and motivations God created each with. And believe me, being blessed with six, sometimes it’s frustrating, sometimes overwhelming, but overall fun and gratifying to see them flourish.

We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your^] faith, if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead,^] do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully. (1 Co. 12:6-8)

So, imagine I must be gone all day and left instructions for the kids to have the house clean before I get back, and now I am 35 minutes away. The one gifted with prophecy hollers at everyone, we’ re gonna be in trouble if we don’t get this done (tells it like it is). The one with teaching is irate saying, I told you we should have done it in the morning (tells how things could be different). The gifted leader/adminstrator quickly orders: You do the bathrooms, you get the vacuum, you wash the dishes, you sweep, and you mop (gets people moving to get things done). The one gifted to serve takes the job the others don’t want (happily does what is needed). The encourager sets the pace with an assured “We can do this!” (makes people believe and go on) The giver calls me and tells me to stop by for pizza for dinner, his treat (happily gives to make others happy). And the gifted in mercy is just plain distraught thinking of poor mom coming home to a mess, but also in poor kids if they’re in trouble (feels for others and lets them know). Any similarity to actual persons or events is purely coincidental. Or not.

Pray thanking God for making you just who you are and ask Him to reveal to you the passion and strength He gave you for a purpose.

Día 19: ¿Qué te mueve a ti?

Dios no hizo a las personas como clones, sino hizo una gran variedad para mezclar, contrastar y complementarse entre sí mientras atravesemos la vida juntos. Uno de los mayores desafíos de la crianza de los hijos es reconocer y ayudar a desarrollar los dones y motivaciones únicos con los que Dios creó a cada uno. Y siendo bendecido con seis, creanme cuando digo que a veces es frustrante, a veces abrumador, pero en general divertido y gratificante verlos florecer.

“De manera que tenemos dones que varían según la gracia que nos ha sido concedida: Si es de profecía, úsese conforme a la medida de la fe; si es de servicio, en servir; el que enseña, úselo en la enseñanza, el que exhorta, en la exhortación; el que comparte, con liberalidad; el que preside, con diligencia; y el que hace misericordia, con alegría.” (1 Co. 12:6-8)

Entonces, imagina el escenario… Debo estar fuera todo el día y dejo instrucciones para que los niños tengan la casa limpia antes que regrese, y ahora estoy a 35 minutos de legar. El que está dotado de profecía grita a todos, vamos a estar en problemas si no hacemos esto (declara las verdades). El que enseña está molesto diciendo, les dije que deberíamos haberlo hecho por la mañana (dice cómo las cosas podrían ser diferentes). El con don de líder/administrador ordena rápidamente: Tú limpia los baños, tú ve por la aspiradora, tú lava los platos, tú barres y yo trapeo (hace que la gente se mueva para hacer las cosas). El que está dotado para servir toma el trabajo que los demás no quieren (felizmente hace lo que se necesita). El exhortador pone todo en marcha con un “¡Podemos hacer esto!” (hace que la gente crea y continúe) El dador me llama y me dice que pase por pizza para cenar, él paga (felizmente da para hacer felices a los demás). Y el dotado en misericordia simplemente estará angustiado pensando pobre mi madre que llega a casa a un desastre, pero también piensa en los niños si están en problemas (siente por los demás y lo demuestra). Cualquier similitud con personas o eventos reales es pura coincidencia. O no.

Ora agradeciendo a Dios por haberte hecho tal como eres y pídele que te revele la pasión y la fuerza que Él te dio para sus propósitos.

Our body is wonderfully made by God with many members working together in harmony for us to live in health and wellbeing. I don’t know about you, but I don’t wake up talking to my bones to be able to get out of bed- you toe bone connected to the foot bone, foot bone connected to the ankle bone, and so on to the neck bone connected to the head bone- ok, now, get yourselves up. In general, we take for granted the function of our many parts and members, but we count on them- from our head to our toes, from our eardrum to our liver, from our skin to our arteries, from our eyes to the fingernail on our little toe. We tend to pay attention to our visible parts looking good, but when it comes to the unseen, we usually don’t pay much attention until something starts malfunctioning.

“For as in one body we have many members, and the members do not all have the same function, so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another.” (Ro.12:4-5)

From the moment you and I believe on Jesus Christ as our Savior, we are born again spiritually into a new body, that is the body of Christ. And just as in our physical body the parts are interconnected and interdependent so is our relationship with other believers. Some are easy to love while some just plain rub you the wrong way, and most are somewhere in the middle, but all are part of you and you of them whether you like it or not. So, let’s get this straight once and for all in our mind. The body we are all part of is Christ, which means the way I treat my fellow Christian is the way I am treating Christ Himself. This is not mystical but very practical. We should love one another, be kind to one another, support one another, forgive one another, not lie to one another, and teach one another. That’s the way it is.

Pray repenting for wrong attitudes you have had toward another believer and ask the Lord to help you live out your love for Him in practical ways with the members of His body, your fellow believers.

Día 18: Te necesito y tú me necesitas a mí.

Nuestro cuerpo está maravillosamente hecho por Dios con muchos miembros trabajando juntos en armonía para que vivamos en salud y bienestar. No sé ustedes, pero no me despierto hablando con mis huesos para poder levantarme de la cama: el hueso del dedo del pie conectado al hueso del pie, el hueso del pie conectado al hueso del tobillo, y así sucesivamente al hueso del cuello conectado al hueso de la cabeza, ok, ahora, levántense. En general, damos por sentada la función de nuestras muchas partes y miembros, pero contamos con ellos, desde la cabeza hasta los dedos de los pies, desde el tímpano hasta el hígado, desde la piel hasta las arterias, desde los ojos hasta la uña del dedito. Tendemos a prestar atención a que nuestras partes visibles se vean bien, pero cuando se trata de lo invisible, generalmente no prestamos mucha atención hasta que algo comienza a funcionar mal.

“ Porque de la manera que en un solo cuerpo tenemos muchos miembros pero todos los miembros no tienen la misma función, así nosotros, siendo muchos, somos un solo cuerpo en Cristo pero todos somos miembros los unos de los otros.“. (Ro.12:4-5)

Desde el momento en que usted y yo creemos en Jesucristo como nuestro Salvador, nacemos de nuevo espiritualmente en un nuevo cuerpo, que es el cuerpo de Cristo. Y así como en nuestro cuerpo físico las partes están interconectadas e interdependientes, también lo es nuestra relación con otros creyentes. Algunos son fáciles de amar, mientras que otros simplemente te caen mal, y la mayoría están en algún lugar en el medio, pero todos son parte de ti y tú de ellos, te guste o no. Entonces, vamos a aclarar esto de una vez por todas en nuestra mente. El cuerpo del que todos somos parte es Cristo, lo que significa que la forma en que trato a mi prójimo cristiano es la forma en que trato a Cristo mismo. Esto no es místico sino muy práctico. Debemos amarnos unos a otros, ser amables unos con otros, apoyarnos unos a otros, perdonarnos unos a otros, no mentirnos unos a otros, y enseñarnos unos a otros. No hay otro.

Ora arrepintiéndote por las actitudes equivocadas que has tenido hacia otro creyente y pídele al Señor que te ayude a vivir tu amor por Él de manera práctica con los miembros de Su cuerpo, todo creyente.

Over the past days, we have focused on breaking the mold the world and the enemy have wanted to put on our mind, so we can live our life according to God’s will. Let’s continue with the apostle Paul’s description of our life in living sacrifice.

“… to everyone among you not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think with sober judgment, each according to the measure of faith that God has assigned.”  (Ro.12:3)

Do you know someone that really thinks highly of themselves and makes sure everyone around knows it? Whether it’s the guy that thinks he is God’s gift to women, or the girl that thinks the company would go under without her. You would probably be offended if someone said you were like that. But a lot of times we don’t even realize how we come across, like when I think you really should do things my way because it is better. Or when you don’t really listen to an explanation because you already have the answer. Or when I am pretty proud of how I teach, though it was God that gave me that gift in the first place.

God has made each person special with a unique set of talents and traits for the purpose and calling for which he was designed. If there’s one thing that can make a person miserable it is trying to be something you are not. You can put forth a lot of effort, and even if you meet someone else’s standard, you won’t be happy, because it just isn’t you. Social media has specialized in bringing everyone and their business into our home and world. Likes and follows causes some to puff up with pride, and others to sink with no hope of measuring up. We should not compare ourselves with others neither to look down on them nor to despise ourselves. We should honestly evaluate ourselves on a regular basis, but the measure is God’s plan not man’s, And He who calls will also do it.

Pray asking God to forgive you where you have been proud, because He resists the proud, and to increase your faith to live the portion of faith God calls you to.

Día 17: ¿Te crees muy muy?

En los últimos días, nos hemos centrado en romper el molde que el mundo y el enemigo han querido poner en nuestra mente, para que podamos vivir nuestra vida de acuerdo con la voluntad de Dios. Continuemos con la descripción del apóstol Pablo de nuestra vida en sacrificio vivo.

“…  a cada uno de ustedes por la gracia que me ha sido dada, que nadie tenga más alto concepto de sí que el que deba tener; más bien, que piense con sensatez, conforme a la medida de la fe que Dios repartió a cada uno.” (Ro.12:3)

¿Conoces a alguien que realmente piense muy bien de sí mismo y se asegure de que todos a su alrededor lo sepan? Ya sea el chico que piensa que es el regalo de Dios para las mujeres, o la chica que piensa que la compañía se hundiría sin ella. Probablemente te sentirías ofendido si alguien dijera que eres así. Pero muchas veces ni siquiera nos damos cuenta de cómo nos encontramos, como cuando creo que realmente deberías hacer las cosas a mi manera porque es mejor. O cuando realmente no escuchas una explicación porque ya tienes la respuesta. O cuando estoy muy orgulloso de cómo enseño, aunque fue Dios quien me dio ese regalo en primer lugar.

Dios ha hecho a cada persona especial con un conjunto único de talentos y rasgos para el propósito y el llamado para el cual fue diseñado. Si hay algo que puede hacer que una persona se sienta miserable es tratar de ser algo que no es. Puedes esforzarte mucho, e incluso si cumples con el estándar de otra persona, no serás feliz, porque simplemente no eres tú. Las redes sociales se han especializado en llevar a todos y sus negocios a nuestro hogar y mundo. Los “likes” y los seguidores hacen que algunos se inflen de orgullo y otros se hundan sin esperanza de estar a la altura. No debemos compararnos con los demás ni menospreciarlos ni despreciarnos a nosotros mismos. Debemos evaluarnos honestamente a nosotros mismos de manera regular, pero la medida es el plan de Dios, no el del hombre, y el que llama también lo hará.

Ora pidiéndole a Dios que te perdone donde has estado orgulloso, porque Él resiste a los orgullosos, y que aumente tu fe para vivir la porción de fe a la que Dios te llama.

Before Jesus begun His ministry on earth, the Spirit of God led Him into the desert where He was tempted by the devil for forty days in which He fasted. Though we don’t know all the devil threw at Jesus in that time, we do know from Hebrews 4:15 that Jesus was tempted in every respect as we are, but without sin. In Luke 4 we see the last 3 temptations that were the culmination before the devil had ended every temptation, the same temptations Eve failed at in Eden and John speaks of in 1 John. Eve failed in Eden because when the devil threw her the dart of doubt- did God really say…? – she began to consider and reason instead of quickly rebutting him with the word God had said. In contrast, Jesus’ response in each case was quick and decisive like a master swordsman, It is written, said in reference to the scriptures as God’s revealed word. The devil found no way in with Jesus and left Him.

“For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. “(Heb.4:12)

When we as Christians put on the armor of God and use it correctly, we need not fear the attacks of the devil, rather he should fear us. Jesus said the gates of hell will not prevail against us, the church that He builds. Stop seeing yourself as cowering before the enemy barely keeping afoot and start seeing yourself driving the enemy away as you raise the shield of faith and spar with the sword of the Spirit which is the word of God (Eph 6:17). The key is knowing what God says, believing it, and declaring it to be so here on earth and in your specific situation. In doing that, you unleash all authority Jesus has given you and the devil doesn’t stand a chance.

“Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.? (James 4:7)

Start changing your narrative today, REPLACING your thoughts with God’s thoughts. Such as:

• Contrary to anything you may have heard (like you were an accident), God specifically and uniquely designed every part of you and your life and loves you (Psalm 139)
• You have nothing to fear because He is with you always and the perfect love of God which is in Christ in you casts out all fear. (Is.41:10; 1 Jn. 4:18)
• When you confess your sin to God, He will forgive you and wipe the slate clean (1 Jn.1:9)
• God is not angry with you nor against you but has great plans for your life (Jer. 29:11-13)
• If you come to God when you feel tired or weak, He will give you new strength (Is.40:29-31)
• There is absolutely nothing physical or spiritual that can separate you from God’s love (Ro.8:31-39)

Read the scriptures above and pray them, declaring them to be your reality. God said it and it is so.

Día 16: Conviértate en un maestro espadachín

Antes de que Jesús comenzara Su ministerio en la tierra, el Espíritu de Dios lo llevó al desierto donde fue tentado por el diablo durante cuarenta días en los que ayunó. Aunque no sabemos todo lo que el diablo arrojó a Jesús en ese tiempo, sí sabemos por Hebreos 4:15 que Jesús fue tentado en todos los aspectos como nosotros, pero sin pecado. En Lucas 4 vemos las últimas 3 tentaciones que fueron la culminación antes de que el diablo hubiera terminado con cada tentación, las mismas tentaciones en las que Eva falló en el Edén y Juan habla en 1 Juan. Eva fracasó en el Edén porque cuando el diablo le lanzó el dardo de la duda, ¿realmente dijo Dios…? – ella comenzó a considerar y razonar en lugar de refutarlo rápidamente con la palabra que Dios había dicho. En contraste, la respuesta de Jesús en cada caso fue rápida y decisiva como un maestro espadachín, está escrito, dicho en referencia a las Escrituras como la palabra revelada de Dios. El diablo no encontró entrada con Jesús y lo dejó.

“Porque la Palabra de Dios es viva y eficaz, y más penetrante que toda espada de dos filos. Penetra hasta partir el alma y el espíritu, las coyunturas y los tuétanos, y discierne los pensamientos y las intenciones del corazón. ” (Heb.4:12)

Cuando nosotros, como cristianos, nos ponemos la armadura de Dios y la usamos correctamente, no debemos temer los ataques del diablo, sino que él debe temernos a nosotros. Jesús dijo que las puertas del infierno no prevalecerán contra nosotros, la iglesia que Él edifica. Deja de verte a ti mismo acobardado ante el enemigo que apenas te mantienes a pie y comienza a verte a ti mismo ahuyentando al enemigo al levantar el escudo de la fe y luchar con la espada del Espíritu que es la palabra de Dios (Efesios 6:17).  La clave es saber lo que Dios dice, creerlo y declararlo que así sea aquí en la tierra y en tu situación específica. Al hacer eso, liberas toda la autoridad que Jesús te ha dado y el diablo no tiene ninguna oportunidad.

“Por lo tanto, sométanse a Dios. Resiste al diablo y él huirá de ti. (Santiago 4:7)

Comience a cambiar tu narrativa hoy, REEMPLAZANDO tus pensamientos con los pensamientos de Dios. Como:

1. Contrario a cualquier cosa que hayas escuchado (como decir que fuiste un accidente), Dios diseñó específica y únicamente cada parte de ti y de tu vida y te ama (Salmo 139)
2. No tienes nada que temer porque Él está contigo siempre y el amor perfecto de Dios que está en Cristo en ti expulsa todo temor. (Is.41:10; 1 Jn. 4:18)
3. Cuando confieses tu pecado a Dios, Él te perdonará y limpiará como nuevo (1 Jn.1:9)
4. Dios no está enojado contigo ni está en tu contra, sino que tiene grandes planes para tu vida (Jer. 29:11-13)
5. Si vienes a Dios cuando te sientes cansado o débil, Él te dará nueva fuerza (Is.40:29-31)
6. No hay absolutamente nada físico o espiritual que pueda separarte del amor de Dios (Ro.8:31-39)

Lee las Escrituras anteriores y ora declarando que son la realidad en tu vida. Dios lo dijo y así es.

Romans 12 says that as we are transformed by the renewing of our mind, we will prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. God doesn’t beat around the bush but tells it like it is.  His plan and intention for you is blessing in every area of your life, and it is there for the choosing. But if you want it, just like a destiny on your GPS, you must follow the instructions and go down the right roads. The amazing thing is that even if you wander or intentionally make a wrong turn, you can decide to come back to God, life, and blessing.  

“…return to the Lord your God and obey His voice, according to all that I command you today, you and your children, with all your heart and with all your soul, that the Lord your God will bring you back from captivity, and have compassion on you…”

It is important to note we can’t set ourselves free from the things that have held us captive, but God can and will when we turn and follow Him. He asks you to obey Him with all your heart and all your soul. He doesn’t want us just going through the motions or saying the words. We need to look seriously at the evidence in our life. Do I say God is first, but I decide what is best for my family and no one is telling me how to raise my children? Do I say I want to know God’s will, but I feign deafness when He says end this relationship, forgive that person, be kind with that unbearable boss, or take out your wallet to bless someone? With all your heart means you give the Lord the throne of your life and the center of your attention. You love Him more than anything else in the world including your spouse, children, family, career, goals, and yourself. With all your soul means you decide that your MIND will think only that which aligns with God’s thoughts, your delight is to do the WILL of God not your own, and your EMOTIONS don’t take the lead but rather follow right thinking instead.

 I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you, life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live;  that you may love the Lord your God, that you may obey His voice, and that you may cling to Him, for He is your life and the length of your days…”

Choose life! It’s a decision you must make once and for all, and it’s a decision that you make every day. You choose life when you believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God who gave himself to die for you so that you may live a life in abundance. In a moment, you are born again into eternal life, reconciled with God, and transferred from the kingdom of Satan and darkness to the kingdom of God and his glorious light. You choose life every day when you choose faith over reason, love over hate, and God’s will over mine. LOVE the Lord. OBEY his voice. And CLING to Him.  

Read Deuteronomy 30; Ro. 10:8-13; Phil. 3:7-15.

Prayer: Tell God you choose life, His life. Surrender the throne of your heart and center your affections on Him.

Día 14: Tú decides,¡Escoge la vida!

Romanos 12 dice que conforme somos transformados por la renovacion de nuestra mente, vamos a comprobar cual sea la voluntad de Dios, buena, agradable, y perfecta. Dios no anda con rodeos, sino que dice las cosas como son.  Su plan e intención para ti es bendecir cada área de tu vida, y está ahí para que lo escojas. Pero si lo deseas, al igual que un destino en tu GPS, debes seguir las instrucciones e ir por los caminos correctos. Lo sorprendente es que incluso si deambulas o intencionalmente haces un giro equivocado, puedes decidir volver a Dios, a la vida y a la bendición. 

“…si vuelves, tú con tus hijos, al SEÑOR tu Dios y obedeces su voz con todo tu corazón y con toda tu alma, conforme a todo lo que yo te mando hoy,entonces el SEÑOR tu Dios también te restaurará de tu cautividad. Él tendrá misericordia de ti …”

Es importante tener en cuenta que no podemos liberarnos de las cosas que nos han mantenido cautivos, pero Dios puede y lo hará cuando nos volvamos y lo sigamos. Él te pide que le obedezcas con todo tu corazón y toda tu alma. Él no quiere que simplemente hagamos las cosas por inercia o digamos las palabras. Necesitamos mirar seriamente la evidencia en nuestra vida. ¿Digo que Dios es lo primero, pero yo decido qué es lo mejor para mi familia y nadie me dice cómo criar a mis hijos? ¿Digo que quiero saber la voluntad de Dios, pero finjo sordera cuando Él dice que termine esta relación, perdone a esa persona, sea amable con ese jefe insoportable o saque mi billetera para bendecir a alguien? Con todo tu corazón significa que le das al Señor el trono de tu vida y el centro de tu atención. Lo amas más que cualquier otra cosa en el mundo, incluyendo a tu cónyuge, hijos, familia, carrera, metas y a ti mismo. Con toda tu alma significa que decides que tu MENTE pensará solo lo que se alinea con los pensamientos de Dios, tu deleite es hacer la VOLUNTAD de Dios, no la tuya, y tus EMOCIONES no toman la iniciativa, sino que siguen el pensamiento correcto.

“Llamo hoy por testigos contra ustedes a los cielos y a la tierra, de que he puesto delante de ustedes la vida y la muerte, la bendición y la maldición. ESCOGE, PUES, LA VIDA PARA QUE VIVAS, tú y tus descendientes, amando al SEÑOR tu Dios, escuchando su voz y siéndole fiel. Porque él es tu vida y la prolongación de tus días…”

¡Escoge la vida! Es una decisión que debes tomar de una vez por todas, y es una decisión que tomas todos los días. Eliges la vida cuando crees que Jesucristo es el Hijo de Dios que se entregó a morir por ti para que puedas vivir una vida en abundancia. En un momento, naces de nuevo a la vida eterna, te reconcilias con Dios y eres transferido del reino de Satanás y las tinieblas al reino de Dios y su gloriosa luz. Eliges la vida todos los días cuando eliges la fe sobre la razón, el amor sobre el odio y la voluntad de Dios sobre la tuya. AMA al Señor. ESCUCHA su voz Y obedécele. Y SE FIEL a Él. 

Lee Deuteronomio 30; Ro. 10:8-13; Fil. 3:7-15.

Orar: Dile a Dios que escoges la vida, Su vida. Entrega el trono de tu corazón y centra tus afectos en Él.

When God prepared His people to enter the land He promised them, a land of blessing and abundance for them and their descendants, His order was clear.

“…drive out all the inhabitants of the land from before you and destroy all their figured stones and destroy all their metal images and demolish all their high places. And you shall take possession of the land and settle in it, for I have given the land to you to possess it.” (Nm. 33:51-53)

Unfortunately, the people and later kings did not destroy all the high places in the land, some worshiping God AND idols, and some departing totally from God. And time after time, God let them be overcome and enslaved because everyone was doing whatever was right in his own eyes.

This is a shadow or figure of God’s plan for the life of every Christian to live possessing all His promises. But to do so, we must tear down the high places in our lives. High places refer to the places on high hills or mountains where people tried to get closer to a deity and set up altars to worship, usually gods other than the true God. This is idolatry and clearly not depending wholeheartedly on God.

Most of us wouldn’t think of having such a physical altar in our home, but we have high places in our heart and mind that we need to tear down, “casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God”. What arguments and reasonings have you permitted in your life? While saying you love God, there are areas you hold onto when you know they are not His will. You are saying you need to look out for yourself or make your own decisions, which is exalting yourself above God.

High places in our life are doors we have opened to the enemy and given him access and now we suffer the consequences without understanding why. He readily steals from us, but the worst part is that we give him our joy, peace, and victory. It’s time to tear down victimization (poor me), rebellion and pride (my way), unforgiveness (they don’t deserve to be forgiven), materialism (I’ll be happy with more), the past (If good, I want to go back and if bad, I can’t move on), and everything else that needs to be submitted in obedience to Christ. Don’t be like King Uzziah and others who did what was right in the eyes of the Lord BUT didn’t tear down the high places. It doesn’t work.

Pray repenting for every idol and submit every single area of your life in obedience to God and His word.

Día 13: ¿Hay lugares altos en tu corazón?

Cuando Dios preparó a su pueblo para entrar en la tierra que les prometió, una tierra de bendición y abundancia para ellos y sus descendientes su orden fue clara.

“expulsarán a todos los habitantes de la tierra delante de ustedes, y destruirán todas sus piedras grabadas, y destruirán todas sus imágenes fundidas, y demolerán todos sus lugares altos; y tomarán posesión de la tierra y habitarán en ella, porque les he dado la tierra para que la posean”. (Nm.33:51-53)

Desafortunadamente, el pueblo y los reyes posteriores no destruyeron todos los lugares altos de la tierra, algunos adoraron a Dios Y a los ídolos, y otros se apartaron totalmente de Dios. Dios dejó que fueran vencidos y esclavizados porque cada uno estaba haciendo lo que fuera correcto a sus propios ojos.

Esta es una sombra o figura del plan de Dios para que la vida de cada cristiano viva poseyendo todas Sus promesas. Pero para hacerlo, debemos derribar los lugares altos de nuestras vidas. Los lugares altos se refieren a los lugares en altas colinas o montañas donde las personas trataron de acercarse a una deidad y establecieron altares para adorar, generalmente dioses que no son el Dios verdadero. Esto es idolatría y claramente no es depender de todo corazón de Dios.

La mayoría de nosotros no pensaríamos en tener un altar físico en nuestro hogar, pero tenemos lugares altos en nuestro corazón y mente que necesitamos derribar. “Destruimos los argumentos y toda altivez que se levanta contra el conocimiento de Dios“.  ¿Qué argumentos y razonamientos has permitido en tu vida? Mientras dices que amas a Dios, hay áreas a las que te aferras cuando sabes que no son Su voluntad. Estás diciendo que necesitas cuidarte tú mismo y tomar tus propias decisiones, lo que es exaltarte por encima de Dios.

Los lugares altos de nuestra vida son puertas que hemos abierto al enemigo y le hemos dado acceso y ahora sufrimos las consecuencias sin entender por qué. Él nos roba con gusto, pero la peor parte es que nosotros mismos le damos nuestra alegría, paz y victoria. Es hora de derribar la victimización (pobre de mí), la rebelión y el orgullo (a mi manera), la falta de perdón (no merecen ser perdonados), la aceptación (imagen y aprobación), el materialismo (seré feliz con más), el pasado (si es bueno, quiero volver y si es malo, no puedo seguir adelante), y todo lo demás que necesita ser sometido en obediencia a Cristo. No seas como el rey Uzías y otros que hicieron lo correcto a los ojos del Señor, PERO no derribaron los lugares altos. No funciona.

Ora arrepintiéndote por cada ídolo y somete cada área de tu vida en obediencia a Dios y a Su palabra.

Have you heard the saying or maybe said it yourself? When you say this, usually you are getting pretty upset with someone guilty of causing you trouble. But take a step back a minute and think about it. The real problem is the “buttons” not who pushes them. If the buttons weren’t there, they couldn’t be pushed. These buttons have to do with what the Bible calls strongholds, and we are told to pull them down.

While there are negative thoughts that come at you like flying arrows looking for a weak spot to get into your mind, other thoughts come from a stronghold erected within your mind. A stronghold is a negative way of thinking that has become a habit for you, which means you tend to go there automatically when certain things happen. It usually starts with a negative experience in your life in which you judge the circumstances and come to a conclusion that you believe to be true but actually is not. That accepted truth is now defended above real truth. For example, your parents get divorced, and you feel it’s your fault and so you believe you ruin relationships. When you start dating, you tend to abort the relationship before it gets too serious because you know you will ruin it anyway. The truth is it was not your fault it was your parents’. But the lie you believed and reinforced over time became a stronghold. Or maybe, you grew up with a parent that was easily angered and often said, You made me mad! Your bottled-up anger now comes out in the same way, because as your parent told you, you said the same thing inside, believing your anger to be justifiable. But it was a lie when your parent said it and when you believed it. No one can “make us mad”. It is a personal decision each person makes to either dominate your feelings and actions or let them fly.

Jesus came to set us free through his truth and the power of the Holy Spirit. A stronghold is an area where the enemy is entrenched, and we are slaves to a wrong way of thinking. The first step is to ask God to open our spiritual eyes, so we can see strongholds. Second, you need to find the truth in the Bible that debunks the lie the stronghold is based on. Third, you need to repent to God for having believed a lie from the enemy over his truth and pull down the stronghold. Repeat as often as necessary. A few examples are depression, unforgiveness, lust, fear, anxiety, and shame.

“For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.” (2 Co. 10:4-5) 

Read 1 Co. 8:2-3; Gal. 5:16-17; Mt.18:18; Eph. 4:22-24. Think about negative patterns in your life that are habitual and start asking God to show you where you have strongholds and deal with them one at a time

Pray: Repent and recognize the truth of God. Ask the Spirit to help you bind every lie and its power in your life and loose the freedom of truth. Ask the Lord to govern you mind.

Día 12: ¡No me busques porque me encuentras!

¿Has escuchado el dicho o tal vez lo has dicho tú mismo? Cuando dices esto, por lo general te estás molestando bastante con alguien culpable de causarte problemas. Pero da un paso atrás un minuto y piénsalo. El verdadero problema no es que te busque sino que tú tienes la tendencia de estallar. Si no fuera así, no te podrían presionar. Estas tendencias tienen que ver con lo que la Biblia llama fortalezas, y se nos dice que los derribemos.

Mientras que hay pensamientos negativos que vienen a ti como flechas voladoras en busca de un punto débil para entrar en tu mente, otros pensamientos provienen de una fortaleza erigida dentro de tu mente. Una fortaleza es una forma negativa de pensar que se ha convertido en un hábito para ti, lo que significa que tiendes a ir allí automáticamente cuando suceden ciertas cosas.  Por lo general, comienza con una experiencia negativa en tu vida en la que juzgas las circunstancias y llegas a una conclusión que crees que es cierta, pero en realidad no lo es. Esa verdad percibida ahora se defiende por encima de la verdad real. Por ejemplo, tus padres se divorcian, y sientes que es tu culpa y por eso crees que arruinas las relaciones. Cuando comienzas a salir, tiendes a abortar la relación antes de que se ponga demasiado seria porque sabes que la arruinarás de todos modos. La verdad es que no fue tu culpa, fue de tus padres. Pero la mentira que creías y reforzaste con el tiempo se convirtió en una fortaleza. O tal vez, creciste con un padre que se enojaba fácilmente y a menudo decía: ¡Me hiciste enojar! Tu ira embotellada ahora sale de la misma manera, porque como tu padre te dijo, dijiste lo mismo por dentro, creyendo que tu ira era justificable. Pero era mentira cuando tu padre lo decía y tú lo creías. Nadie puede “hacerte enojar”. Es una decisión personal que cada persona toma para dominar sus sentimientos y acciones o dejarlos volar.

Jesús vino a liberarnos a través de su verdad y el poder del Espíritu Santo. Una fortaleza es un área donde el enemigo está atrincherado, y somos esclavos de una forma equivocada de pensar. El primer paso es pedirle a Dios que nos quite la ceguera para que podamos ver identificar las fortalezas. Segundo, hay que encontrar la verdad en la Biblia que desacredita la mentira en la que se basa una fortaleza. Tercero, necesitas arrepentirte ante Dios por haber creído una mentira del enemigo sobre su verdad y derribar esa fortaleza. Repite este proceso las veces que sea necesario. Unos ejemplos son la depresión, falta de perdón, lujuria, temor, ansiedad, y vergüenza.

“…porque las armas de nuestra milicia no son carnales sino poderosas en Dios para la destrucción de fortalezas. Destruimos los argumentos y toda altivez que se levanta contra el conocimiento de Dios; llevamos cautivo todo pensamiento a la obediencia de Cristo” (2 Co. 10:4-6)

Lee 1 Co. 8:2-3; Gálatas 5:16-17; Mateo 18:18; Ef. 4:22-24. Piensa en los patrones negativos que son habituales en tu vida y empieza a pedirle a Dios que te muestre donde tienes fortalezas y trata con ellas una a la vez.

Orar: Arrepiéntete y reconoce la verdad de Dios, pídele al Espíritu que te ayude a atar toda mentira y su poder en tu vida y a perder la libertad de la verdad. Pide al Señor que gobierne en tu mente.

Go with me for a minute to an exclusive club at opening time and there are a lot of people wanting to get in. Can you see the line? Inevitably, everyone must go through the security check where they are asked for ID. Some people are ushered right in because they have an invitation from the owner.  Some are let in after scrutiny. Suddenly you see a couple of people pulled out of the line and turned away because of fake ID. And the couple that tries to sneak around the doorman is caught and thrown out.

Now go to the door of your mind. You are the bouncer, and it’s your responsibility to check, analyze, receive, and reject the thoughts that come knocking on your door. Any thought can knock, some try to sneak in, and some try to convince you they are valid when they are not. Although there are many things in life you can’t control, God has given you the capacity to open and close the door to your mind, that is, to decide what you think about. You must be vigilant, catch wrong thoughts, and throw them out quickly before they can get a foothold.

“…bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled.” (2 Co. 10:5-6)

As a follower of Christ, you need to be aware of the fiery darts the enemy shoots at you. Did God really say that? (doubt) You’ll never get ahead (discouragement). Your mother died of cancer, and so will you (fear). You can’t ask God for help since you haven’t even read the Bible in a week… or… Do you think God will hear you after what you did? (condemnation, isolation) You are an impossible wreck (rejection, despair). Follow your impulses with your co-worker or look at some pornography; what the wife doesn’t know won’t hurt her (sexual immorality, deceit). I have to go shopping, live in a certain place, or get the newest iPhone (materialism). What she said or did to you is unforgiveable (judging, unforgiveness). And many more…

Though you may FEEL any given thought is true, that doesn’t mean it is. Our emotions are given us by God as sensors and are as important as having feeling in your hand so you don’t burn it. Emotions are responses to what we believe to be true and should be acknowledged as such. But like binoculars must be adjusted to be able to see our object clearly, we need to focus back on God’s truth which doesn’t depend on us believing or feeling. If He said He will never leave nor forsake me, He is right here with me even if it doesn’t seem so. If He said His mercies are new every morning, today is a new opportunity and God is for you. So, examine every thought through the lens of God’s word, stop anything that contradicts it dead in its tracks, don’t even think about it, just bounce it out of your mind.

Read and pray Psalm 139. Praise God for creating you wonderfully and uniquely and having a plan thought out for you. Thank Him for being ever present with you. Ask Him to examine your thoughts and help you get rid of what you should. The fact that everyone says it or does it, doesn’t make it true or right. Distrust your emotions and reasoning and trust God.

Día 11: Deténlo en seco

Ve conmigo por un minuto a un club exclusivo a la hora de apertura y hay mucha gente que quiere entrar. ¿Puedes ver la fila? Inevitablemente, todos deben pasar por el control de seguridad donde se les pide una identificación. Algunas personas son introducidas directamente porque tienen una invitación del propietario. Algunos son dejados entrar después del escrutinio. De repente ves a un par de personas sacadas de la fila y despedidas debido a presentar una identificación falsa. Y la pareja que intenta escabullirse alrededor del portero es atrapada y expulsada.

Ahora ve a la puerta de tu mente. Tú eres el portero y es tu responsabilidad verificar, analizar, recibir y rechazar los pensamientos que llaman a su puerta. Cualquier pensamiento puede tocar, algunos intentan colarse y otros intentan convencerte de que son válidos cuando no lo son. Aunque hay muchas cosas en la vida que no puedes controlar, Dios te ha dado la capacidad de abrir y cerrar la puerta a tu mente, es decir, de decidir en qué piensas. Debes estar atento, detectar pensamientos equivocados y desecharlos rápidamente antes de que puedan afianzarse.

“… llevando cada pensamiento cautivo a la obediencia de Cristo y estando listo para castigar toda desobediencia cuando tu obediencia se cumpla”. (2 Co. 10:5-6)

Como seguidor de Cristo, debes ser consciente de los dardos de fuego que el enemigo te dispara. ¿Realmente dijo Dios eso? (duda) Nunca saldrás adelante (desánimo). Tu madre murió de cáncer y así morirás tú también (temor). No puedes pedirle ayuda a Dios ya que ni siquiera has leído la Biblia en una semana… o… ¿Crees que Dios te escuchará después de lo que hiciste? (condenación, culpa,  aislamiento) Eres un desaastre (rechazo, desesperación). Sigue tus impulsos con tu compañero de trabajo o mira algo de pornografía; lo que la esposa no sabe no le hará daño (inmoralidad sexual, engaño). Tengo que ir de compras, vivir en un lugar determinado o comprar el iPhone más nuevo (materialismo). Lo que ella te dijo o te hizo es imperdonable (juzgar, no perdonar). Y muchos más…

Aunque puedes SENTIR que cualquier pensamiento dado es cierto, no significa que lo sea. Nuestras emociones nos las da Dios como sensores y son tan importantes como tener sentimiento en la mano para que no la quemes. Las emociones son respuestas a lo que creemos que es verdad y deben ser reconocidas como tales. Pero al igual que los binoculares deben ajustarse para poder ver nuestro objeto con claridad, necesitamos enfocarnos en la verdad de Dios, que no depende de qué creamos o sintamos. Si Él dijo que nunca me dejará ni me abandonará, Él está aquí conmigo, incluso si no lo parece. Si Él dijo que Sus misericordias son nuevas cada mañana, hoy es una nueva oportunidad y Dios es por mi. Por lo tanto, examina cada pensamiento a través de la lente de la palabra de Dios, detén en seco cualquier cosa que lo contradiga, ni siquiera pienses en ello, y simplemente sácalo de tu mente.

Lee y ora el Salmo 139. Alaba a Dios por crearte de manera maravillosa y única y por tener un plan pensado para ti. Agradécale por estar siempre presente contigo. Pídele que examine tus pensamientos y te ayude a deshacerte de lo que deberías. El hecho de que todo el mundo lo diga o lo haga, no lo hace verdadero ni correcto. Desconfía de tus emociones y razonamientos y confía en Dios.

Not everyone that hears voices in their head is schizophrenic. The truth is that there are 3 main voices that most of us hear sowing thoughts in our mind- God (Father, Son, Holy Spirit), Satan (and his evil spirits), and our inner man. And it is very important that we learn to discern which voice is speaking to us at any given time, so we can be effective in this process of renewing our mind. To do this, when a thought comes into your mind consider the character of the voice, the motive, what the scriptures say, and how it makes you feel.  The two keys to discerning that you and I need every single day are the word of God and the help of the Holy Spirit living in you.

“For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.” (Heb.4:12)

Let’s start with God. Maybe you doubt God speaks to you or that you can hear Him, but He does, and you can. Jesus said that His sheep hear his voice, and they know him. God wants you to know His voice, and the key is your relationship with Him. God’s character is easily seen in his names and attributes given throughout the Bible- the Creator, Father, our Refuge and Strength, Wonderful, Counselor, Prince of Peace, the Good Shepherd, Comforter, Teacher, Guide… God is love, true, faithful, merciful, and just. God’s motive in speaking to you is an intimate relationship, good not evil, to guide you on the best path in life, and show you how to access all He is and has for you. When he speaks, even if it is to correct us, we feel peace and love. You can trust Him.

Satan, on the other hand, is a specialist in undercover ops, a master of deceit, but is infinitely inferior to God. While God is all knowing, all present, and all powerful, Satan and his cohort demons are angel beings created by God with limited power and abilities, whose level of influence in our lives is based on how much he deceives us. The Bible says Satan is a liar and father of all lies, our adversary, and the accuser of the brethren. His motive is none other that to thwart God’s kingdom on earth and any part you may have in it- lying, robbing, and destroying your identity and purpose, family and relationships, deceiving as an angel of light to convince you to follow his pleasures, accusing and condemning you so you feel you can’t come to God with your shortcomings… When you listen to him it’s like going down a white rapids river on a raft, your feelings and attitudes are churning and controlling and without hope.

Then there is your own voice, that is the soul within you. We are made in the image of God as a three part being, our spirit was created to relate with God, our soul (our mind, will and emotions) to relate with ourself, and our body to relate with the world. Our own voice is molded and tempered by our knowledge, experiences, and beliefs, so this voice can vary a lot from one person to another. The Bible refers to this voice as the heart, the inner man, the flesh, and the old man which is corrupt or deceived by the natural desires of the world, the culture, what people have said we are, customs and traditions. This voice generally exalts you, your plan, your feelings, and your reasoning above God’s truth.

Read John 10: 1-5,14-15, 27-29; Sal. 34:8; Is. 43:4; Ro: 8:26-28; Jn.8:44; 10:10; 1 Peter 5:8; Mark 4:15; Rev.12:9; Jer. 17:9-10; Eph. 4:22-24; Gal. 5:19-26. Add to your notes if you identify where a thought came from.

Pray Hebrews 5:14 that God help you grow and be trained by the Spirit in spiritual discernment.

Día 10: ¿Escuchas voces en tu cabeza?

No todos los que escuchan voces en su cabeza son esquizofrénicos. La verdad es que hay 3 voces principales que la mayoría de nosotros escuchamos sembrar pensamientos en nuestra mente: Dios (Padre, Hijo, Espíritu Santo), Satanás (y sus espíritus malignos) y nuestro hombre interior. Y es muy importante que aprendamos a discernir qué voz nos está hablando en un momento dado, para que podamos ser efectivos en este proceso de renovación de nuestra mente. Para hacer esto, cuando un pensamiento venga a tu mente, considera el carácter de la voz, el motivo, lo que dicen las Escrituras y cómo te hace sentir. Las dos claves para discernir que necesitamos tú y yo todos los días son la palabra de Dios y la ayuda del Espíritu Santo que viva adentro.

“Porque la Palabra de Dios es viva y eficaz, y más penetrante que toda espada de dos filos. Penetra hasta partir el alma y el espíritu, las coyunturas y los tuétanos, y discierne los pensamientos y las intenciones del corazón.”. (Heb.4:12)

Comencemos con Dios. Tal vez dudes de que Dios te hable o de que puedas escucharlo, pero Él lo hace, y tú puedes. Jesús dijo que sus ovejas oyen su voz y lo conocen. Dios quiere que conozcas Su voz, y la clave es tu relación con Él. El carácter de Dios se ve fácilmente en sus nombres y atributos dados a lo largo de la Biblia: el Creador, el Padre, nuestro Refugio y Fortaleza, Admirable, Consejero, Príncipe de Paz, el Buen Pastor, consolador, maestro, guía … Dios es amor, verdadero, fiel, misericordioso y justo. El motivo de Dios para hablarte es una relación íntima, para bien no para mal, para guiarte por el mejor camino en la vida y mostrarte cómo acceder a todo lo que Él es y tiene para ti. Cuando habla, aunque sea para corregirnos, sentimos paz y amor. Puedes confiar en Él.

Satanás, por otro lado, es un especialista en operaciones encubiertas, un maestro del engaño, pero es infinitamente inferior a Dios. Mientras Dios todo lo sabe, está todo presente y todo poderoso, Satanás y su cohorte de demonios son ángeles creados por Dios con poder y habilidades limitadas, cuyo nivel de influencia en nuestras vidas se basa en cuánto nos engaña. La Biblia dice que Satanás es un mentiroso y padre de todas las mentiras, nuestro adversario y el acusador de los hermanos. Su motivo no es otro que frustrar el reino de Dios en la tierra y cualquier parte que puedas tener en él: mentir, robar y destruir tu identidad y propósito, familia y relaciones, engañar como un ángel de luz para convencerte de seguir sus placeres, acusarte y condenarte para que sientas que no puedes venir a Dios con tus defectos … Cuando lo escuchas es como balsismo en un río bravo, tus sentimientos y actitudes se agitan y te manipulan y te quitan la esperanza.

Luego está tu propia voz, que es el alma dentro de ti. Estamos hechos a imagen de Dios, un ser tripartita- nuestro espíritu fue creado para relacionarnos con Dios, nuestra alma (mente, voluntad y emociones) para relacionarnos con nosotros mismos, y nuestro cuerpo para relacionarnos con el mundo. Nuestra propia voz está moldeada y templada por nuestros conocimientos, experiencias y creencias, por lo que esta voz puede variar mucho de una persona a otra. La Biblia se refiere a esta voz como el corazón, el hombre interior, la carne y el viejo hombre que es corrupto o engañado por los deseos naturales del mundo, la cultura, lo que la gente ha dicho que somos, las costumbres y tradiciones. Esta voz generalmente te exalta a ti, tu plan, tus sentimientos y tu razonamiento por encima de la verdad de Dios.
