August 29: Over the last years, planting one’s own little garden has gotten popular among many. Have you ever bought a little packet of seeds and planted them? When I was young, that was a yearly experience. My mom loved to garden and shopped for the best seeds possible for the fruit she wanted to enjoy. Her garden was huge with long rows of tomatoes, squash, lettuce, cucumbers, corn and much more. The common order of any summer night was, “Go out to the garden and bring ( ) in for dinner”, from delicious, juicy tomato sandwiches to fresh corn on the cob to peaches and cream. It wasn’t hard because the abundant fruit readily evidenced which plants were which. I never saw a tomato vine that produced just one tomato or expected one ear of corn from a plant, since a seed is packed by God to multiply and produce much fruit after its kind. So, the word of God is good seed that when planted in your heart and practiced in your life will bring forth fruit and increase.

“…the gospel, which has come to you, as indeed in the whole world it is bearing fruit and increasing—as it also does among you, since the day you heard it and understood the grace of God in truth”
Take a few minutes to think about what fruit can readily be seen in your life since you heard the good news of Christ and received God’s grace in truth.
Prayer: Dear Father, thank you for your grace and truth that I have come to know through Jesus Christ your son. Help me, Holy Spirit, to apply these in my daily living so that ever-increasing fruit is evidenced in my attitudes, words, and actions, bringing glory to you. Amen.
29 agosto: En los últimos años, se ha vuelto bastante popular plantar tu propia pequeña huerta. ¿Alguna vez has comprado un paquetito de semillas para plantarlas? Cuando era chica, esa era nuestra experiencia de cada año. A mi mamá le encantaba su huerta y procuraba las mejores semillas posible para el fruto que deseaba disfrutar. Su huerta estaba muy grande con hileras largas de tomate, calabaza, lechuga, pepino, maíz, y mucho más. El orden común de cualquier noche de verano era, “Ve a la huerta y trae ( ) para la cena, ya sea para sándwich de tomates deliciosos y jugosos a elotes frescos a duraznos con crema. No era difícil, porque el fruto abundante fácilmente evidenciaba cuales eran las plantas indicadas. Nunca vi una tomatera que tuviera un solo tomate ni esperaba un solo elote del maíz, ya que una semilla es creada por Dios repleta para multiplicarse y producir mucho fruto según su especie. Así que, la palabra de Dios es buena semilla que producirá fruto cuando la plantas en tu corazón y la practicas en tu vida.

“… han oído en la palabra de verdad del evangelioque les ha llegado. Y así como está llevando fruto y creciendo en todo el mundo, lo mismo sucede también entre ustedes desde el día en que oyeron y comprendieron de veras la gracia de Dios.”
Toma unos minutos para pensar en qué fruto es notorio en tu vida desde que oíste las buenas nuevas de Cristo y recibiste la gracia y verdad de Dios.
Ora: Amado Padre, gracias por tu gracia y verdad que he llegado a conocer por medio de Jesucristo, tu hijo. Espíritu Santo, ayúdame a aplicar estas en mi diario vivir de modo que el fruto sea evidenciado en mis actitudes, palabras, y acciones, trayendo gloria a ti. Amén.
