Go with me for a minute to an exclusive club at opening time and there are a lot of people wanting to get in. Can you see the line? Inevitably, everyone must go through the security check where they are asked for ID. Some people are ushered right in because they have an invitation from the owner.  Some are let in after scrutiny. Suddenly you see a couple of people pulled out of the line and turned away because of fake ID. And the couple that tries to sneak around the doorman is caught and thrown out.

Now go to the door of your mind. You are the bouncer, and it’s your responsibility to check, analyze, receive, and reject the thoughts that come knocking on your door. Any thought can knock, some try to sneak in, and some try to convince you they are valid when they are not. Although there are many things in life you can’t control, God has given you the capacity to open and close the door to your mind, that is, to decide what you think about. You must be vigilant, catch wrong thoughts, and throw them out quickly before they can get a foothold.

“…bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled.” (2 Co. 10:5-6)

As a follower of Christ, you need to be aware of the fiery darts the enemy shoots at you. Did God really say that? (doubt) You’ll never get ahead (discouragement). Your mother died of cancer, and so will you (fear). You can’t ask God for help since you haven’t even read the Bible in a week… or… Do you think God will hear you after what you did? (condemnation, isolation) You are an impossible wreck (rejection, despair). Follow your impulses with your co-worker or look at some pornography; what the wife doesn’t know won’t hurt her (sexual immorality, deceit). I have to go shopping, live in a certain place, or get the newest iPhone (materialism). What she said or did to you is unforgiveable (judging, unforgiveness). And many more…

Though you may FEEL any given thought is true, that doesn’t mean it is. Our emotions are given us by God as sensors and are as important as having feeling in your hand so you don’t burn it. Emotions are responses to what we believe to be true and should be acknowledged as such. But like binoculars must be adjusted to be able to see our object clearly, we need to focus back on God’s truth which doesn’t depend on us believing or feeling. If He said He will never leave nor forsake me, He is right here with me even if it doesn’t seem so. If He said His mercies are new every morning, today is a new opportunity and God is for you. So, examine every thought through the lens of God’s word, stop anything that contradicts it dead in its tracks, don’t even think about it, just bounce it out of your mind.

Read and pray Psalm 139. Praise God for creating you wonderfully and uniquely and having a plan thought out for you. Thank Him for being ever present with you. Ask Him to examine your thoughts and help you get rid of what you should. The fact that everyone says it or does it, doesn’t make it true or right. Distrust your emotions and reasoning and trust God.

Día 11: Deténlo en seco

Ve conmigo por un minuto a un club exclusivo a la hora de apertura y hay mucha gente que quiere entrar. ¿Puedes ver la fila? Inevitablemente, todos deben pasar por el control de seguridad donde se les pide una identificación. Algunas personas son introducidas directamente porque tienen una invitación del propietario. Algunos son dejados entrar después del escrutinio. De repente ves a un par de personas sacadas de la fila y despedidas debido a presentar una identificación falsa. Y la pareja que intenta escabullirse alrededor del portero es atrapada y expulsada.

Ahora ve a la puerta de tu mente. Tú eres el portero y es tu responsabilidad verificar, analizar, recibir y rechazar los pensamientos que llaman a su puerta. Cualquier pensamiento puede tocar, algunos intentan colarse y otros intentan convencerte de que son válidos cuando no lo son. Aunque hay muchas cosas en la vida que no puedes controlar, Dios te ha dado la capacidad de abrir y cerrar la puerta a tu mente, es decir, de decidir en qué piensas. Debes estar atento, detectar pensamientos equivocados y desecharlos rápidamente antes de que puedan afianzarse.

“… llevando cada pensamiento cautivo a la obediencia de Cristo y estando listo para castigar toda desobediencia cuando tu obediencia se cumpla”. (2 Co. 10:5-6)

Como seguidor de Cristo, debes ser consciente de los dardos de fuego que el enemigo te dispara. ¿Realmente dijo Dios eso? (duda) Nunca saldrás adelante (desánimo). Tu madre murió de cáncer y así morirás tú también (temor). No puedes pedirle ayuda a Dios ya que ni siquiera has leído la Biblia en una semana… o… ¿Crees que Dios te escuchará después de lo que hiciste? (condenación, culpa,  aislamiento) Eres un desaastre (rechazo, desesperación). Sigue tus impulsos con tu compañero de trabajo o mira algo de pornografía; lo que la esposa no sabe no le hará daño (inmoralidad sexual, engaño). Tengo que ir de compras, vivir en un lugar determinado o comprar el iPhone más nuevo (materialismo). Lo que ella te dijo o te hizo es imperdonable (juzgar, no perdonar). Y muchos más…

Aunque puedes SENTIR que cualquier pensamiento dado es cierto, no significa que lo sea. Nuestras emociones nos las da Dios como sensores y son tan importantes como tener sentimiento en la mano para que no la quemes. Las emociones son respuestas a lo que creemos que es verdad y deben ser reconocidas como tales. Pero al igual que los binoculares deben ajustarse para poder ver nuestro objeto con claridad, necesitamos enfocarnos en la verdad de Dios, que no depende de qué creamos o sintamos. Si Él dijo que nunca me dejará ni me abandonará, Él está aquí conmigo, incluso si no lo parece. Si Él dijo que Sus misericordias son nuevas cada mañana, hoy es una nueva oportunidad y Dios es por mi. Por lo tanto, examina cada pensamiento a través de la lente de la palabra de Dios, detén en seco cualquier cosa que lo contradiga, ni siquiera pienses en ello, y simplemente sácalo de tu mente.

Lee y ora el Salmo 139. Alaba a Dios por crearte de manera maravillosa y única y por tener un plan pensado para ti. Agradécale por estar siempre presente contigo. Pídele que examine tus pensamientos y te ayude a deshacerte de lo que deberías. El hecho de que todo el mundo lo diga o lo haga, no lo hace verdadero ni correcto. Desconfía de tus emociones y razonamientos y confía en Dios.

Not everyone that hears voices in their head is schizophrenic. The truth is that there are 3 main voices that most of us hear sowing thoughts in our mind- God (Father, Son, Holy Spirit), Satan (and his evil spirits), and our inner man. And it is very important that we learn to discern which voice is speaking to us at any given time, so we can be effective in this process of renewing our mind. To do this, when a thought comes into your mind consider the character of the voice, the motive, what the scriptures say, and how it makes you feel.  The two keys to discerning that you and I need every single day are the word of God and the help of the Holy Spirit living in you.

“For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.” (Heb.4:12)

Let’s start with God. Maybe you doubt God speaks to you or that you can hear Him, but He does, and you can. Jesus said that His sheep hear his voice, and they know him. God wants you to know His voice, and the key is your relationship with Him. God’s character is easily seen in his names and attributes given throughout the Bible- the Creator, Father, our Refuge and Strength, Wonderful, Counselor, Prince of Peace, the Good Shepherd, Comforter, Teacher, Guide… God is love, true, faithful, merciful, and just. God’s motive in speaking to you is an intimate relationship, good not evil, to guide you on the best path in life, and show you how to access all He is and has for you. When he speaks, even if it is to correct us, we feel peace and love. You can trust Him.

Satan, on the other hand, is a specialist in undercover ops, a master of deceit, but is infinitely inferior to God. While God is all knowing, all present, and all powerful, Satan and his cohort demons are angel beings created by God with limited power and abilities, whose level of influence in our lives is based on how much he deceives us. The Bible says Satan is a liar and father of all lies, our adversary, and the accuser of the brethren. His motive is none other that to thwart God’s kingdom on earth and any part you may have in it- lying, robbing, and destroying your identity and purpose, family and relationships, deceiving as an angel of light to convince you to follow his pleasures, accusing and condemning you so you feel you can’t come to God with your shortcomings… When you listen to him it’s like going down a white rapids river on a raft, your feelings and attitudes are churning and controlling and without hope.

Then there is your own voice, that is the soul within you. We are made in the image of God as a three part being, our spirit was created to relate with God, our soul (our mind, will and emotions) to relate with ourself, and our body to relate with the world. Our own voice is molded and tempered by our knowledge, experiences, and beliefs, so this voice can vary a lot from one person to another. The Bible refers to this voice as the heart, the inner man, the flesh, and the old man which is corrupt or deceived by the natural desires of the world, the culture, what people have said we are, customs and traditions. This voice generally exalts you, your plan, your feelings, and your reasoning above God’s truth.

Pray Hebrews 5:14 that God help you grow and be trained by the Spirit in spiritual discernment.

Día 10: ¿Escuchas voces en tu cabeza?

No todos los que escuchan voces en su cabeza son esquizofrénicos. La verdad es que hay 3 voces principales que la mayoría de nosotros escuchamos sembrar pensamientos en nuestra mente: Dios (Padre, Hijo, Espíritu Santo), Satanás (y sus espíritus malignos) y nuestro hombre interior. Y es muy importante que aprendamos a discernir qué voz nos está hablando en un momento dado, para que podamos ser efectivos en este proceso de renovación de nuestra mente. Para hacer esto, cuando un pensamiento venga a tu mente, considera el carácter de la voz, el motivo, lo que dicen las Escrituras y cómo te hace sentir. Las dos claves para discernir que necesitamos tú y yo todos los días son la palabra de Dios y la ayuda del Espíritu Santo que viva adentro.

“Porque la Palabra de Dios es viva y eficaz, y más penetrante que toda espada de dos filos. Penetra hasta partir el alma y el espíritu, las coyunturas y los tuétanos, y discierne los pensamientos y las intenciones del corazón.”. (Heb.4:12)

Comencemos con Dios. Tal vez dudes de que Dios te hable o de que puedas escucharlo, pero Él lo hace, y tú puedes. Jesús dijo que sus ovejas oyen su voz y lo conocen. Dios quiere que conozcas Su voz, y la clave es tu relación con Él. El carácter de Dios se ve fácilmente en sus nombres y atributos dados a lo largo de la Biblia: el Creador, el Padre, nuestro Refugio y Fortaleza, Admirable, Consejero, Príncipe de Paz, el Buen Pastor, consolador, maestro, guía … Dios es amor, verdadero, fiel, misericordioso y justo. El motivo de Dios para hablarte es una relación íntima, para bien no para mal, para guiarte por el mejor camino en la vida y mostrarte cómo acceder a todo lo que Él es y tiene para ti. Cuando habla, aunque sea para corregirnos, sentimos paz y amor. Puedes confiar en Él.

Satanás, por otro lado, es un especialista en operaciones encubiertas, un maestro del engaño, pero es infinitamente inferior a Dios. Mientras Dios todo lo sabe, está todo presente y todo poderoso, Satanás y su cohorte de demonios son ángeles creados por Dios con poder y habilidades limitadas, cuyo nivel de influencia en nuestras vidas se basa en cuánto nos engaña. La Biblia dice que Satanás es un mentiroso y padre de todas las mentiras, nuestro adversario y el acusador de los hermanos. Su motivo no es otro que frustrar el reino de Dios en la tierra y cualquier parte que puedas tener en él: mentir, robar y destruir tu identidad y propósito, familia y relaciones, engañar como un ángel de luz para convencerte de seguir sus placeres, acusarte y condenarte para que sientas que no puedes venir a Dios con tus defectos … Cuando lo escuchas es como balsismo en un río bravo, tus sentimientos y actitudes se agitan y te manipulan y te quitan la esperanza.

Luego está tu propia voz, que es el alma dentro de ti. Estamos hechos a imagen de Dios, un ser tripartita- nuestro espíritu fue creado para relacionarnos con Dios, nuestra alma (mente, voluntad y emociones) para relacionarnos con nosotros mismos, y nuestro cuerpo para relacionarnos con el mundo. Nuestra propia voz está moldeada y templada por nuestros conocimientos, experiencias y creencias, por lo que esta voz puede variar mucho de una persona a otra. La Biblia se refiere a esta voz como el corazón, el hombre interior, la carne y el viejo hombre que es corrupto o engañado por los deseos naturales del mundo, la cultura, lo que la gente ha dicho que somos, las costumbres y tradiciones. Esta voz generalmente te exalta a ti, tu plan, tus sentimientos y tu razonamiento por encima de la verdad de Dios.

Ora según Hebreos 5:14 que Dios te ayude a crecer y ser entrenado por el Espíritu en el discernimiento espiritual.

Have you had one of those days when you are so sleepy that you barely sat down a minute and you wake up suddenly realizing you slept- the kids emptied the cupboards, your boss is looking at you drool, your friend across the table sees you heard nothing, or the worst, you are swerving out of your lane. None of these are pleasant discoveries. Maybe today is one of those days, and you find you have been sleeping.

Just like your eyes adapt to move about in a dimly lit room, you may have been living for a long time with thoughts that have made themselves at home in your head. You look at your husband in the morning and think, we’re probably going to end up in divorce. You see a billboard and think, I’m just too fat. You sit at your desk at work and think, everyone’s against me. You see a post on social media and think, why can’t I have a family (car, house, job or even meal) like them? Or maybe you didn’t even get out of bed this morning because you thought, there’s just no point, I’ll never get life right.

From the time we come into the world we begin to learn how to think. While we are taught to eat, talk, and walk on our own, we begin to adopt certain mindsets, ways of doing things, and behaving.  Some are good, some really good, some not too good, and some have us hanging on the edge of a cliff to destruction because they are plainly against God’s truth. There are patterns of thought that are prevalent in our family, community, culture, and society that may seem very natural to us but that doesn’t mean they are good. I hope to turn on a bright light that may blind you for a minute, but the purpose is for you to see how the enemy has been lurking close by and you didn’t even know it. In Ephesians 5, it says that all things are made manifest in the light – in other words, the light lets you see things you hadn’t before- and Christ shines His light on you.

Once you have recognized that you have an enemy, that you are in a war that is mostly fought in your mind, and that your defense is your faith, you need to become very conscious of the thoughts, feelings, habits, and hidden motives that are influencing your daily life and, unbeknownst to you, plotting your destiny. Every day some 50, 000 thoughts go through your head, fed by the news you hear, the programs you watch, the things you see and read, the conversations you have or overhear, people’s actions and reactions toward you, and basically everything you perceive through your natural senses, heightened by your inner self. What you allow to feed your mind will form your thoughts, affect your feelings, pop up in attitudes, and generally forge your life.  

“Awake, you who sleep, arise from the dead, and Christ will give you light.See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Therefore, do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is.”

Read  Acts 26:15-18; Eph.1:17-18; 5:13-17; James 3:13. For the next 3 days, make note in your phone when you have negative feelings (anger, loneliness, fear, despair, depression, etc.) and then think about what you were perceiving and thinking before feeling that, and make note of that too. Ex. Fear-heard my company is struggling- gonna lose my job.

Pray Proverbs 27:12, asking God to make you wise and prudent so you can avoid pitfalls and live His way.

Día 9: ¡Despierta, tú que duermes!

¿Has tenido uno de esos días en los que tienes tanto sueño que apenas te sentaste un minuto y te despiertas de repente dándote cuenta de que dormiste: los niños saquearon la alacena, tu jefe te está mirando babear, tu amigo al otro lado de la mesa ve que no escuchaste nada, o lo peor, te encuentras  desviando de tu carril? Ninguno de estos son descubrimientos agradables. Tal vez hoy es uno de esos días, y descubres que has estado durmiendo.

Al igual que tus ojos se adaptan para moverse en una habitación poco iluminada, es posible que hayas estado viviendo durante mucho tiempo con pensamientos que se han hecho sentir como en casa en tu cabeza. Miras a tu esposo por la mañana y piensas, probablemente vamos a terminar en divorcio. Ves una valla publicitaria y piensas, estoy demasiado gordo. Te sientas en tu escritorio en el trabajo y piensas, todos están en mi contra. Ves una publicación en las redes sociales y piensas, ¿por qué no puedo tener una familia (carro, casa, trabajo o incluso comida) como ellos? O tal vez ni siquiera te levantaste de la cama esta mañana porque pensaste, simplemente no tiene sentido, no puedo con la vida.

Desde el momento en que venimos al mundo comenzamos a aprender a pensar. Mientras se nos enseña a comer, hablar y caminar por nuestra cuenta, comenzamos a adoptar ciertas mentalidades, formas de hacer las cosas y comportarnos.  Algunos son buenos, otros muy buenos, otros no tan buenos, y algunos nos tienen colgados al borde de un precipicio a la destrucción porque están claramente en contra de la verdad de Dios. Hay patrones de pensamiento que prevalecen en nuestra familia, comunidad, cultura y sociedad que pueden parecernos muy naturales, pero eso no significa que sean buenos. Espero encender una luz brillante que pueda cegarte por un minuto, pero el propósito es que veas cómo el enemigo ha estado al lado tuyo en las sombras y ni siquiera lo sabías. En Efesios 5, dice que todas las cosas se manifiestan en la luz, en otras palabras, la luz te permite ver cosas que no veías antes, y Cristo brilla Su luz sobre ti.

Una vez que hayas reconocido que tienes un enemigo, que estás en una guerra que se libra principalmente en tu mente, y que tu defensa es tu fe, necesitas ser muy consciente de los pensamientos, sentimientos, hábitos y motivos ocultos que están influyendo en tu vida diaria y, sin que lo sepas, trazando tu destino. Cada día unos 50.000 pensamientos pasan por tu cabeza, alimentados por las noticias que escuchas, los programas que ves, las publicaciones que ves y lees, las conversaciones que tienes o escuchas, las acciones y reacciones de las personas hacia ti, y básicamente todo lo que percibes a través de tus sentidos naturales, aumentado por tu ser interior. Lo que permites alimentar tu mente formará tus pensamientos, afectará tus sentimientos, aparecerá en actitudes y, en general, forjará tu vida. 

“Despiértate, tú que duermes. levántate de entre los muertos, y te alumbrará Cristo.Por tanto, ¡cuidado con su manera de vivir! No vivan ya como necios, sino como sabios. Aprovechen bien el tiempo, porque los días son malos. No sean, pues, insensatos; procuren entender cuál es la voluntad del Señor.”

Lee Hechos 26:15-18; Ef.1:17-18; 5:13-17; Stg, 3:13. Durante los próximos 3 días, tome nota en tu teléfono cuando tengas sentimientos negativos (ira, miedo, desesperación, depresión, soledad, etc.) y luego piense en lo que estaba percibiendo y pensando antes de sentir eso, y tome nota de eso también. Ej. Miedo-escuché que mi empresa tiene problemas- voy a perder mi trabajo.

Ora Proverbios 27:12, pidiéndole a Dios que te haga sabio y prudente para evitar los baches y vivir a su manera.

In Ephesians 6, we are instructed to put on the whole armor of God to resist and be firmly standing through any and every attack of our enemy, Satan. Every part is important, but let’s focus today on the first line of defense, the shield. You wouldn’t go into battle planning to block all the blows with your head or body, but rather to avoid bodily impact as much as possible. The preferred shield used by Roman soldiers when this passage was written was commonly called a door, because of its size and shape. When an enemy attacked, a soldier would set his shield firmly in front of him for protection, fighting in quick jabs around the sides. When soldiers grouped and joined shields it was like closing the door- they were practically impenetrable from direct attack or flying arrows. Our first line of defense is our faith, and we must learn how to wield it effectively against the enemy. It does a soldier no good to SAY he has a shield or even HAVE a shield in his hand, if he doesn’t USE it.

“… if you are not firm in faith, you will not be firm at all.” (Is.7:9 ESV)

What is faith? Faith is the assurance that the things revealed and promised in the word of God are true, even though unseen, and gives the believer a conviction that what he expects in faith, will come to pass. Faith is based entirely on the word and has nothing to do with senses or circumstances. You need to know the word because faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word (rhema) of God. (Ro.10:17) If you don’t know what God has said about you, your family, and others… if you don’t know his promises, you have no defense. Faith means God said it, he does what he says, so I believe that what He said is already in the works and will be completed.

How do I take up my shield? Jesus is the Author and Finisher of our faith. This means that He gives us a measure of faith to begin and helps us to the end of our life in the good fight of faith. Faith without action is useless. If you want to activate, grow, and maintain your faith it requires that your speech and action echo what God says.  Start by searching the Bible for specific promises from God. Meditate on them and repeat them to yourself until they are revealed to you- when you are convinced in your heart that God’s promise is for you. Then pray asking God to fulfill his promise. Take God’s word to him, declare what it says, and thank Him for making good on it for you. It’s like receiving a check and taking it to the bank. You sign the back, show your ID, and receive money in your hand.

Take up your shield; take God’s word to the bank. When I confess my sins, He is faithful and just to forgive my sins and cleanse me from all unrighteousness. Nothing can separate me from the love of God in Christ Jesus. My God will provide all my needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus. I draw near to God, and I know He draws near to me. God is my refuge and strength, a very present help in times of trouble. But you oh Lord are a shield around about me. Know it, believe it, and live it.

Read Hebrews 11; 12:2; 1 Co.16:13; 1 John 5:4; James 2:17; John 6:29.

Pray: Find a promise for a need or struggle you have today. Pray it and memorize it.

Día 8: Toma el escudo de la fe

En efesios 6, se nos enseña a ponernos toda la armadura de Dios para resistir y quedar firmes a través de cualquier y todo ataque de nuestro enemigo, Satanás. Cada parte es importante, pero vamos a enfocarnos hoy en el escudo, la primera línea de defensa. No irías a la batalla con planes de bloquear todos los golpes con tu cabeza o cuerpo, sino procurarías evitar lo posible de contacto corporal. En la época cuando se escribió este texto, al escudo de preferencia de los romanos le solían decir puerta, por su tamaño y forma. Cuando atacaba un enemigo, el soldado plantaba con firmeza su escudo en frente de él para protección, peleando con golpes repentinos de un lado u otro. Cuando los soldados se agrupaban y unían sus escudos era como cerrar la puerta- quedaban prácticamente impenetrables se de ataque directo o de flechas voladoras.  La fe es nuestra primera línea de defensa, y debemos aprender a empuñarlo contra el enemigo con efectividad. No le sirve de nada a un soldado DECIR que tiene un escudo o aun TENER un escudo en su mano si no lo USA.

 “…A menos que ustedes tengan una fe firme, no puedo hacer que permanezcan firmes.” (Is.7:9NTV)

¿Qué es la fe? La fe es la certeza de que las cosas reveladas y prometidas en la palabra de Dios son verdaderas, aun si no se ven, y le da al creyente una convicción de creer que lo que espera en fe, se cumplirá.

La fe se basa completamente en la palabra y no tiene que ver en absoluto con los sentidos o circunstancias. Necesitas conocer la palabra porque la fe viene por el oír, y el oír, por la palabra (rhema) de Dios. (Ro.10:17) Si no sabes lo que Dios ha dicho de ti, tu familia, y otros… si no conoces sus promesas, no tienes defensa alguna. La fe significa, Dios lo dijo, él hace lo que dice, así que yo creo que lo que dijo ya está en proceso y será cumplido.  

¿Cómo tomo mi escudo de la fe? Jesús es el Autor y Consumador de nuestra fe. Esto significa que él nos da una medida de fe para comenzar y nos ayuda hasta el fin de nuestra vida en la buena pelea de la fe. La fe sin acción es inútil. Si quieres activar, crecer, y mantener tu fe se requiere que tu habla y acción hagan eco de lo que dice Dios. Empieza con buscar promesas específicas de Dios en la Biblia. Medita en ellas y repítatelas  hasta que sean reveladas en ti- cuando estés convencido en tu corazón que la promesa de Dios es para ti. Luego, ora pidiéndole a Dios que cumpla su promesa. Lleva la palabra de Dios a él, declara lo que dice, y dale las gracias por hacértela cumplir. Es como recibir un cheque y llevarlo al banco. Lo firmas, muestras tu identificación, y recibes el dinero en tu mano.

Levanta tu escudo; lleva la palabra de Dios al banco. Cuando confieso mi pecado, él es fiel y justo para perdonar mi pecado y limpiarme de toda maldad. When a hunter goes to hunt ducks, he is usually expecting to shoot them in flight when they hear him coming, but if he somehow gets close enough without startling one, the sitting duck is an easy target and won’t even know what hit him.

The Bible warns us that we have an enemy with evil intentions towards us, because in the moment we surrender our life to Christ, God transfers us out of the dominion of Satan’s kingdom of darkness to the kingdom of light of God’s son. Satan doesn’t like to lose power or pawns, so we need to be familiar with his devices and strategies which focus primarily on attacking our mind.

Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. (1 Peter 5:8) [Note, it doesn’t say he IS a lion, nor that you should fear him, but you do need to be in control of your senses and be on the watch.]

Then you must, Resist him, steadfast in the faith. Experts say that if a lion comes toward you, your best chance is to stand your ground, standing as tall as you can, and usually he will turn and go his way.  Resist here is a military term that means to stand your ground even under heavy attack. The key to successful resistance is your faith. This is confirmed when we are told to put on the whole armor of God to stand against the wiles or schemes of the devil, taking the shield of faith with which, you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the evil one. Satan cannot read your mind, but he can sure try to infiltrate it by shooting you fiery negative thoughts, partial truths, misunderstood scriptures, and outright lies. You need to stand firm in faith which is firm conviction in God’s truth and trust in Him.

Read 1 Peter 5:8-9; 2 Co. 2:10-11; Eph. 6:10-16; James 4:6-8.

Pray according to James, willingly submitting yourself to God and declaring resistance to the devil. Ask God to show you areas of your heart and mind that need purifying. Repent and choose wholehearted faith in God.

Día 7: ¿Eres un blanco fácil?

Cuando sale un cazador a cazar patos, generalmente espera dispararles en vuelo cuando lo oyen venir, pero si de alguna forma logra acercarse lo suficiente sin asustar a alguno, el pato sentado es un blanco fácil y nunca sabrá lo que le pasó.  

La Biblia nos advierte que tenemos un enemigo con malas intenciones hacia nosotros, porque en el momento en que entregamos nuestra vida a Cristo, Dios nos transfiere del dominio del reino de las tinieblas de Satanás al reino de luz del hijo de Dios. A Satanás no le gusta perder ni poder ni peones, por lo que debemos estar familiarizados con sus artimañas y maquinaciones que se centran principalmente en atacar nuestra mente.

Estén sobrios, estén atentos; porque tu adversario el diablo camina como un león rugiente, buscando a quién devorar. (1 Pedro 5:8) [Tenga en cuenta que no dice que ES un león, ni que deba temerle, pero sí debes tener el control de tus sentidos y estar atento.]

Entonces debes, Resistirlo, firme en la fe. Los expertos dicen que, si un león viene hacia ti, tu mejor oportunidad es mantenerte firme, de pie tan alto como puedas, y por lo general se volverá y seguirá su camino. Resistir aquí es un término militar que significa mantenerse firme incluso bajo un fuerte ataque. La clave para una resistencia exitosa es tu fe. Esto se confirma cuando se nos dice que nos pongamos toda la armadura de Dios para oponernos a las artimañas o planes del diablo, tomando el escudo de la fe con el cual, podrás apagar todos los dardos ardientes del maligno. Satanás no puede leer tu mente, pero puede tratar de infiltrarse en ella disparándote pensamientos negativos ardientes, verdades parciales, escrituras incomprendidas y mentiras descaradas. Necesitas mantenerte firme en la fe, que es una firme convicción en la verdad de Dios y confiar en Él.

Ora según Santiago, sometiéndote voluntariamente a Dios y declarando resistencia al diablo. Pídele a Dios que te muestre las áreas de tu corazón y mente que necesitan purificación. Arrepiéntete y elige la fe en Dios de todo corazón.

Your thoughts pretty much make or break you. Jesus said in Luke 6:45, it is out of the abundance of the heart that the mouth speaks. So, when words seem to slip out of their own accord, it’s probably because you have quite a stock of thoughts on the matter. The Bible says, for as he thinks in his heart so is he. Thoughts produce attitudes, words, and actions. With more thinking, these produce habits and patterns, and over time, your character and lifestyle. Our tendency is to blame others for so many of our problems and our daily suffering, when, we are usually our own worst enemy, and more than we realize or want to admit is self-inflicted by our own thought life. But it doesn’t have to be like that.

For you to begin the process of renewing your mind, it’s time you start thinking seriously about what you think. Either your thoughts align with what God says about Himself, you, others, the world, and life, or they don’t. If they do, you will have thoughts of faith, hope, love, joy, peace, and patience in any circumstance. If they don’t, you will struggle with fear, anxiety, unforgiveness, unhappiness, and such. There isn’t a middle ground; it is either or.

For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. (Is.55:8-9)

Pray: Thank God for having good thoughts and plans for you and ask Him to give you understanding of them. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you become very conscious of what you think and how it affects you.

Día 5: ¿Qué tienes en mente?

Tus pensamientos son decisivos para ti. En Lucas 6:45 Jesús dijo que es de la abundancia del corazón que habla la boca. Entonces, cuando las palabras parecen salir hasta sin querer, probablemente es porque tienes en existencia bastantes sobre el tema. La Biblia dice, porque cuál es su pensamiento en su corazón (o su mente), tal es él. Los pensamientos producen actitudes, palabras, y acciones. Con más pensamiento, estos producen hábitos y patrones, y con el tiempo, un carácter y estilo de vida. Nuestra tendencia es de culpar a otros por muchos de nuestros problemas y sufrimiento diario cuando puede que seamos nuestro peor enemigo. Y más de que nos damos cuenta o queremos admitir es autoinfligido por nuestro propio pensamiento. Pero no tiene que ser así.

Para que empieces el proceso de renovar tu mente, es hora de pensar seriamente acerca de lo que piensas. Tus pensamientos, o se alinean con lo que Dios dice acerca de si mismo, de ti, otros, el mundo, y la vida o no lo hacen. Si se alinean, tendrás pensamientos de fe, esperanza, amor, gozo, paz, y paciencia en cualquier circunstancia. Si no, lucharás con temor, ansiedad, falta de perdón, infelicidad, y más. No hay un término medio; es uno o el otro.

“Porque mis pensamientos no son sus pensamientos ni sus caminos son mis caminos, dice el SEÑOR. Como son más altos los cielos que la tierra, así mis caminos son más altos que sus caminos, y mis pensamientos más altos que sus pensamientos.” (Is.55:8-9)

Orar: Dale gracias a Dios por tener buenos pensamientos y planes para ti y pide que te dé entendimiento de ellos. Pide al Espíritu Santo que te ayude a hacerte muy consciente de lo que piensas y como te afecta.

The word transformed in Romans 12:2 comes from the root word for metamorphosis, which refers to a complete change into another form, such as a caterpillar converting into a butterfly. When you see a caterpillar crawling across the ground, you probably don’t think of beauty, and it doesn’t seem to see much of life from its perspective, probably not getting far from home. But when you see a Monarch butterfly, you see beauty and freedom, and they can fly over 3,000 miles from home.

That is such an amazing transformation but impossible to take place without a period shut up in a cocoon for the process of changing form and then the painstaking struggle to break out little by little until it is free and strong enough to fly. The Bible says, if you are in Christ, you are a new creation; the old things have passed away, all things have become new. It is a statement of fact, and a transformation has occurred. But even as the caterpillar, we must go through a process of renewing our mind if we are to live out a transformed life, that is, the victorious life of Christ in us.

Throughout life, our mind has been programmed according to what we have seen, heard, lived, and believed. The way you see yourself in the scope of life, family and God will determine the way you live. If you want to stop crawling under the weight of life, you must begin to replace your thoughts with God’s thoughts and eternal truths, one thought at a time. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Greater is he that is in you than he that is in the world. God will never leave nor forsake me. God is who began a good work in me, and I am certain he won’t stop until he completes it. Start now!

And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind… (Ro.12:2)

Día 4: ¿Oruga o mariposa? La palabra transformado en Romanos 12:2 viene de la raíz de la palabra metamorfosis, la cual se refiere a un cambio completo a otra forma, así como la oruga se convierte en mariposa. Cuando ves una oruga arrastrarse por la tierra, no es probable que pienses en belleza, no parece que viera mucho desde su perspectiva, y probablemente nunca llegue lejos de casa. Pero cuando ves una mariposa monarca, ves belleza y libertad, y puede volar a más de 3,000 millas de casa.

Esta es una transformación asombrosa pero imposible que tenga lugar sin un periodo de encerrarse en su capullo para el proceso de cambiarse de forma para después luchar dolorosamente para romperlo poco a poquito hasta ser libre y tener las fuerzas para volar. La Biblia dice, Si estás en Cristo, eres una nueva criatura; las cosas viejas pasaron, ahora han sido hechas nuevas. Es un hecho que ya hubo una transformación. Pero aun como la oruga, debemos pasar por un proceso de renovar nuestra mente si vamos a vivir una vida transformada, esto es, la vida victoriosa de Cristo en nosotros.

A lo largo de la vida, ha sido programada nuestra mente conforme lo que hemos visto, oído, vivido, y creído. La forma que te ves a ti mismo en respeto a la vida, familia y Dios va a determinar tu forma de vivir. Si quieres dejar de arrastrarte como oruga bajo el peso de la vida, debes empezar a reemplazar tus pensamientos por los pensamientos de Dios y sus verdades eternas, un pensamiento a la vez. Todo lo puedo en Cristo que me fortalece. Mayor es Aquel que está en ustedes que el que está en el mundo. Dios nunca me dejará ni me abandonará. Dios es quien comenzó en mi la buena obra, y estoy seguro de que la completará. ¡Empieza ahora!

No se conformen a este mundo; más bien, transfórmense por la renovación de su entendimiento… (Ro.12:2)

Some years ago, when an extreme makeover show came out, I, like many others, loved to watch it. There was certain excitement and intrigue from the start hearing about the need and suffering some family had, seeing their current living conditions, and imagining how their new house could be. Invariably, the results were amazing, beautiful, and way beyond what the people could have hoped for.

Well, you know what? God wants to do an extreme makeover in your house, that is, in your life. He wants to tear down some walls and raise others, going all the way to the foundations to be sure they are built right this time, You can’t make it happen; you can’t change yourself. You just need to cooperate with the Master builder, Jesus Christ and His Helper, the Holy Spirit, and let them do their job. True transformation is not just putting on a coat of paint and making something look nice on the outside, but rather is a total interior change that produces an outward, visible result.

“And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed…”  (Ro. 12:2)

The Christian life is not about doing better or trying to be the best version of you. It’s about recognizing that God has a plan for your life way beyond what you can even imagine on your own, and when you give your life to Him, He will transform you into the image of Christ and help you live accordingly. This happens by regularly spending time in the presence of God and filling your mind with the Word of God, and you will see your life completely changed from the inside out.

Día 3: Cambio de imagen extremo– Hace algunos años cuando salió un programa de extremo cambio de imagen de hogares, como a muchos, me gustaba mucho verlo. Había cierta emoción e intriga desde el inicio al oír de la necesidad y sufrimiento de alguna familia, ver su vivienda presente, e imaginarse cómo podría terminar su nueva casa. Invariablemente, los resultados eran asombrosos, bellos, y más allá de lo que la gente esperaba.

Pues, ¿sabes qué? Dios quiere hacer un extremo cambio de imagen en tu casa, eso es, en tu vida. Quiere derribar algunos muros y levantar otros, trabajando hasta los cimientos para asegurar que se construyen bien esta vez. Tú no puedes hacer que esto pase; no puedes cambiarte a ti mismo. Necesitas cooperar con el perito constructor, Jesucristo, y su Ayudante, el Espíritu Santo, y dejarlos a ellos hacer su trabajo. La verdadera transformación no se trata de echar una capa de pintura para hacer que algo se vea bien por fuera, sino es un cambio interior total que produce un resultado externo visible.

“No se conformen a este mundo; más bien, transfórmense…” (Ro. 12:2)

La vida cristiana no se trata de hacer mejor o tratar de ser la mejor versión de ti. Se trata de reconocer que Dios tiene un plan para tu vida mucho más allá de lo que puedes imaginar por tu cuenta, y cuando entregas tu vida a él, te transformará a la imagen de Cristo y te ayudará a vivir conforme a él. Esto sucede por medio de pasar tiempo regularmente en la presencia de Dios y llenar tu mente de la palabra de Dios, y verás tu vida completamente cambiada desde adentro hacia afuera.
